Important step
In few days we will have our Local Committee conference. And one of the part is PBOX presentation. We were working for more then one month from our first PBOX planning meeting. And the more we work the more we understand that we don't have a clue about how we want to see those projects. After LCC there will be a lot of work and very little of time to do all of it. And I am sure we will do it because we have enough ideas, motivation and energy toward our projects.
We are starting new era in AIESEC in Kyiv development. This year is really difficult: we are moving stress in our work on PBOXes, we are switching to matrix system, we are making our first steps toward AIESEC 2010.
I am really excited in this hot summer evening about the future ahead of us.

LCM. You can gain a lot here
In AIESEC people are strange. Today when Ukraine was fighting with Tunisia to go to next round of World Football Cup crazy AIESEC members of AIESEC in Kyiv had their usual LCM. You know I even happy that we don't have such a big fans in our local committee and don't have to change time and day of LCM.
Just wanted to share once again about how happy I am for 3 brave ukrainians who applied to International Teams and were elected and they are Nadiyka, Kiyaha, Mashka. And I am proud that one of them is from AIESEC in Kyiv :)
Today we also had another interesting person on our LCM and it was Alyona (AIESEC in Donetsk). This girl spent more then 1.5 years in India including 1 year of internship and 8 months of running business. And afterwards she decided to go to Germany on internship! You really can't understand how much you can gain from international experience before you go there, but anyway communication with people being already there can show you a lot of things.

PR Training
Yesterday we had a cool event: the first of the 2 trainings developed especially for pbox researchers.

The PR Training.

Unfortunately, I managed to come only on the second part because of some health rpoblems, but what I heard convincing enough to day that the whole training was useful.

Thank you, Nastya!

And now those ppl working in research teams are prepared to develop their own media-plans and PR-actions plans.

Good luck!

Apply the knowledge you get here efficiently.

And be ready for the financial training about budgeting :)

Some thoughts
I want to tell about one recent meeting. It was not the first external meeting in my life. Hope it was not the last one. But it was a VERY SPECIAL meeting for me.

It was a meeting with a boarding-school , as a part of pbox research.

Actually, it was not my meeting, but Natasha's. She told them about the project, held the discussion, everything, but what impressed me was the flow and passion of the meeting.

I cannot say I've heard much about boarding schools or have a clear vision of them. I tried to do my best to prepare and read info about them, but still, all my past experience limited to marginal, hardly-rememberable encounterings with children from an orphanages near my home back in Tashkent. I just remembered their poor faces and nothing else. So, when going there I prepared myself to have a completely new experience.

But it was even more than that: I could literally feel the passion of those teachers working at that boarding school, you should have heard how they described their boarding-school and how they themselves came up with ideas how to help their children.

Incredible. There are not many places where you'll feel; that: you just come and tell about a project, your wish to develop and help, and reasons for, ad about your organisation, tell them about your feelings towards that issue, and that look at you, and there comes a stroke of kghtening or just a sroke of luck, or just a stroke, and you understant each other. And you feel you are talking one and the same thinbg. And that thing is the wish to help people around you, people, who might even don't rrealise about existance, and may never learn about you, but still you know about them , and you want to help them.

Just because you feel passionate about that. Just because you want to help. Just becuase you want to make a positive impact. Just because you believe you are a person, who can make changes. Just because you are in AIESEC. And together with other passionate people around you - young and elderly, from your country or from places on the opposite of the globe, similar and different - together you just lead change. For the better. And you feel great becuase of it.

That was what I saw in Natasha's eyes, and that was what impressed me and, I believe, impressed those teachers. And that was what convinced them that we CAN HELP and the we WILL HELP.

According to formal writing, the last paragraph should be a conclusion. But I don't want to conclude. I just want to make this post the first one in your observations of those new cool experinces we gain while talking to experts.

.....
It's up to us ;)!

Just wanted to share...
International Congress in coming soon. It will be held during 24.08-04.09 in Poland. This event is desired to be visited by every AIESEC member in the world, but only MC and LCPs has this opportunity. Delegation from one country is limited by 15 people and this year taking into consideration that Ukraine is near Poland a lot of people wanted to go to IC.
Whole Member Committee is going, so it leaves only 5 places for 7 LCPs who wanted to go. Today in MC office we had casting of lots. Only 5 out of 7 will go. I was one of those 7 people and I am one of 5 who will go.
I am extremely happy about all this and hope that this conference will help our Local Committee to perform on much higher level.

Information system! Let's get it started!
Today we had special event in our Local Committee. Today we had our first training on Information System from Anton Chornyy. I came there only on the second part after my exam, but anyway I could fully see the results of excellent preparation and desire to develop AIESEC in this direction.
Everybody went home with loads of information they can use to optimize their PC usage and I hope it will improve our performance in the future.
I want once again to say thanks to Anton and everybody who came. Remember you don't know about a lot of things. Use every opportunity to learn in organization.

Radek is leaving... but in someone's hearts he stays... and he will be back!

We have an opportunity to meet a lot of people in AIESEC. And a lot of greate people. A lot of very interesting and wise, different and same, guys and girls, white and not.
The question is how we use those opportunities? And I think that we don't use those opportunities the way we should.
Radek is leaving tomorrow. Today we had fairwell party for him at Citla's place. Thank you everybody who came.

Thank you.

AIESEC: old and new generations come together

This Friday we had our usual Local Committee Meeting. But this time it was really special because we had as guest one of alumni. And it was Dima Melnik. Dima was in AIESEC long long time ago. Even before new millenium:)
I've heard about this guy several times during my first year in AIESEC and I even communicated with him via email. He is not AIESEC in Kyiv alumni, but anyway he was on External Event on 2005 together with Olga Melnik and I remembered him from that time. Now he is helping us with IT related stuff and we invited him to share his vision of life.
Everybody can say that it was 45 minutes after which you have more questions then answers. And I do like such a moments in our AIESEC Experience when you have an opportunity to experience paradigm shift. I am not sure I had one during this LCM, but I am sure that in the future this person will change some of my perceptions about the world. This was only teaser, so wait for next meeting with this guy. We will have training either on personal development or personal financial management. And, of course, his photo:

Virtual team work
Do you know what it is? I don't think so! And there are really not so many people in Ukraine who have these skills, because our business is not so mobile still.
And you are one of those lucky person who can try and develop these skills here, working in AIESEC in Kyiv. We have a lot of virtual teams even in AIESEC in Ukraine, I am not even talking about whole AIESEC world.
Today soft skills pbox team had their first online meeting. And it was really not productive. We didn't set rules of communication, everybody were typing all the time, some of us didn't even managed to read everything...
But it was good experience, now we all know what we should work on and how and what to change. I hope we will be much better virtual teammates.

PBOX Planning Going On
I'm so happy that we have those cool PBOXes in our LC.
Not that I'm dissatisfied with our previous projects, but these are so cool ones and mainly , so familiar ones. I love all of them and admire those people who develop them.
I sometimes jus can't help wondering how outstanding ideas born in our heads here in AIESEC. Real synergy.

It goes like this: you come together sometimes not fully understanding what you wish to achieve and a lightening strikes you or a muse visits you and you just come up with great ideas.

But the thing I love most about this process is the passion and devotion I see on people's faces. It may sometimes seem hard, even overwhelming, but then you recollect all those people working around you to achieve the same goal and get motivated. Just in a couple of seconds.

I just want to wish you all, guys, lots of luck in your research!
Let's make Kyiv a better place to live! Let's become change agents!

Cheer,
Olya

Interns in AIESEC Kyiv
I can say this post is a kind of another part of Vitalik's previous one. But about another event.

Actually, that was not an event especally organised but just some happy hours that I had in my life thnx to AIESEC and our interns.

I'm talking about out yesterday's going out with an intern from Brazil - Milana. She just called me and asked to spend a day with her and I was lucky to be together with Katya and Slava at that time.

So we agreed to meet immediately and spent a cool meeting together.

That was something incredible: only 30 min ago we were on a meeting working together and than in half an hour we are on our way to Maydan.

A meeting of living diversity:): 3 countries, age difference from 8 to 20+ and that's all among only 6 ppl. And even different cuisine preferences :)

We had a nice talk about anything that popped up in our minds and that was cool. Meeting withouut agenda, purpose or anything. Just to sit and talk: about cultures, home countries, internships, future plans, friends all over the world and just taking pics.

I hope I'll have many more such opportunities in AIESEC.

How to make money work for you?
Yes. We always talk about money - that they are not so important in our life, but, anyway we need them... But do we need to work for money? NO!!! Money have to work for us. And we are here not to earn money, but to change this world.
I think everybody heard about Robert Kiosaky and his book "Rich dad, poor dad.". And of course you heard about this perfect game named "Cash flow". It teach us, how to make money work for us.
I have played this game only once (this Saturday), but I have learned really much from it. It was 3 hours, but if you imagine real life- it was 30 years. I was buying and selling houses, businesses. I was making audit to other players. I was counting my own income and expenses. I had "win" two children, and my expenses increase. Well, what can I tell - IT WAS SO EXITING!!!
Now I surely know that I will come back and play this game more than once again - with different strategies. And I will gain new and new experience. JOIN ME, if you want.

Think Global...
AIESEC is global organization and we all know it. And what do we mean when we say global? I mean that AIESEC is organization in more then 90 countries all over the world. But even more important is that people in AIESEC have global thinking, global vision. They try to see things from different perspective, they try to get to know how other's people are thinking. And they use every opportunity to do so and one of them is free time with our interns and other international guests. It doesn't really mean what we are doing in AIESEC - the main thing is that we are trying to learn all the time.

Are you sure you are right?
How often do you think our stereotypes influence our decisions and behavior? I can assure you that all the time. Just sit and think what do you think about certain group of people (for example blondes). And now try to remember and analyze your behavior towards blonds:)
We could check our stereotypes and how they influence us this Friday on training from Nadya, Katya and Anya.
We also learned about Johari window and created them for everybody. I am sure we all will learn something new about us from other's point of view and I hope we will like most of the things and will work on others to change.

Soft skills driving team working...

Another team in my life. This time it will be team working on pbox development. We where talking for so long time about it and eventually here we are ready to rock!
The idea is great: to help understand the importance of soft skills by young people and to show them where they can learn it. We have huge space for innovation. It will be one of the best projects in AIESEC in Ukraine. And the main reason for this is possibility to run really great PR campaign everywhere: on TV, on radio, in newspapers... Just everywhere.
Yeasterday we had already 2 meeting during week spliting tasks betweek outselves. There are a lot of work but our eyes are shining and we will do it in best quality.

I believe in US!

3rd day of the week, 3 wonderful person, more then 3 great hours...
I don't remember how was the name of the event, but I do remember that is was about diversity, about how different we are from each other and how great it is and how much we can achieve working in synergy.
But it was also unusual because it was the last event Nadya was with us. And it was unusual because it was on the air (which everybody didn't like in the end because of terrible cold).
I am sure that everybody learnt different things from that day. And even those of you who already heard about all those things had an opportunity to learn a lot. You was able to get to know your team mates from LC, their difference from you.
I hope that this event will leave something in everybody's mind and we will change something in our behavior to be more oriented on capitalizing on our difference from each other.
Yeap, that was some smart words...

Project Planning Day 2
Hello dear @ Kyiv!!!

It was such a cool day yesterday. Even inspite of being 6.6.6 :)
And that was Project Planning Day 2 :)

The day when we come together again and develop the future of our LC. It's something incredible to be here with you, work with you and at the same time realize that a fragile, living creature is in your hands , the creature that welcomes you and believes in you and depends on you - and that is our dearest Local Committee.

We had a nice time getting new knowledge and providing it and , of course, developing projects. Three cool hardworking groups improved their drafts and developed the timeline and work pattern they will stick to till the final creation of their "babies":)

Our brave project groups will be working with their Granny-Mummy-Daddy (ask Vitalik, he is much better at these famili relationships :)) coaches.

Good luck and have lots of outstanding projects,
Your Olya

MC take over party

On this Sunday we had extra concentration of leaders on one meter in Nadya's place. And we gathered there because of official start of MC term and MC take over party. It is already 2nd take over party in MC I am present and I really liked it. That was really great time meeting a lof of people you can talk hours and hours in once place. Dancing with them old and new brand aiesec dances, listening to rap songs in ukrainian, laughing from advertisement festival stories.
That was just awesome and I am looking forward for our own take over party to have it even better.
Don't miss such opportunities - they are only once a year.

Best LCM in my AIESEC history
Today I want to share with all of you, readers about special event which took place today. We have such events each week for a long time. And I even can't count which one was this. We used to tell that the first time is always special. Today it was really special, but it was not the first one. Yep, you are right - I am talking about LCM.
It was really great to see all of you there and I am happy you liked it very much too.
We asked for your thoughts about how LCM should be. And I was amazed with huge amount of ideas we have and I am really excited about implementing some of them into our life. I am looking forward to meet you on next week. Don't forget we will have 3 opportunities to get in touch: Project planning, special event from Nadya and Anya and, of course, another LCM.

Discussion club: to be continued.
I was yesterday there despite really problems with my term work. And I am really happy for us. I am really proud that we can take all our passion and run in new direction, create new projects, conduct new activities. ... without any previous experience... And I am glad that we are open and we are striving for learning. That we support each other in these difficult moments when we show results of our work.
I do love AIESEC for making people feeling comfortable with each other and let them open themselves.
A lot should be done after this first release of Discussion Clubs. Good analysis and concrete plan how to eliminate all negativa sides and make positive even more positive. This will be done by our OCP. And thanks to her AIESEC in Kyiv saw start of another project who will be running here for nearest years.
